Those Tasty Beans!

Coffee!

Today I’m sharing an article for Northshore Magazine that I photographed last Spring featuring small roasters in my area. It’s no secret that I love coffee. Through a subscription I have with VT Artisan Coffee in Waterbury, VT, I’m currently sipping from a small batch of Yemini beans from a small farm upon a gorgeous hill called Shu’uba Taiz, grown and processed by a family named Al-Gulasi.

Yemen is known as the birthplace of coffee, and I suggest a great read from one of my favorite authors, Dave Eggers, called The Monk of Mokka. Eggers does a great job of exploring the origins of the illustrious bean, its methods for consumption over the millennia, and the struggles of coffee farmers worldwide. My only real ask is, please, be a responsible consumer and buy your beans from a company that sources them directly from the farmers or their co-ops. They work very hard to bring you deliciousness and deserve a decent wage in return.

And, yes, I’m one of those guys who has about six different methods of making a cup. I have yet to go as far as roasting my beans but trust me, I’m into it.
